Heritage Bank was established in 1981 from the merging of Toowoomba Permanent Building Society and the Darling Downs Building society. The company was known up until 2011 as Heritage Building Society, when it changed its name to Heritage Bank. The organisation oversees $8.5 billion in assets, and is Australia’s largest customer owned bank.
The organisation offers a range of services including term deposits, savings and transaction accounts, business cheque accounts, business credit card and financial planning services, just to name a few of its services.
Heritage Bank operates under a “People First” principle, meaning that it has a customer driven process, great staff with a “can do” attitude. They’re easy to do business with.
Flexible work arrangements are available to employees, as well as a health and wellbeing program called “Better Me,” which all staff have access to. When hired, new staff are paired up with a ‘buddy’ to ensure that they incorporate into their new role positively and free of issues. Staff are offered “Career Breaks”, periods from one to six months where they can have a break and return to the organisation after this time has elapsed. Under their Study Assistance Scheme up to 75% of the course is reimbursed to the staff member.
For its excellence in employee conditions, in 2015 Heritage Bank has been recognised as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards.
