Clearshields Cyclonic Debris Screen protects human life from fragments and shrapnel that fly through the air at high speeds during cyclones. The design aims to effectively meet the level of debris impact resistance which are now required for products of its kind. The prototype is currently being developed in the USA and Australia.
The product was designed primarily with the safety of the customer in mind. It is made from recyclable materials, with a product life expectancy of more than 50 years. Made to withstand incredibly tough conditions, the Debris Screen can withstand a 4kg piece of hardwood travelling 158km/h. Upgrades in Australian standards have given the industry great challenges, as now the strength of products needs to be capable of resisting 9 times the impact load, compared with previous standards.
This practical product provides a solution for residents in cyclone affected areas in Australia. As a result, Clearshields Cyclonic Debris Screen has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Product Innovation in The Australian Business Awards 2015.
