Founded in 1991, Club Assist began operation in Melbourne, Australia, determined to provide Royal Automotive Club of Victoria (RACV) members with the best battery replacement service available. Club Assist now operates across three continents with more than 500 staff members and over 3,500 contracted service providers.
Club Assist acknowledges that recycling is not only good for the environment but also good for the bottom-line. Club Assist has a long-standing history of environmental protection having recycled their batteries from the beginning, even when it was at cost a cost to the company. Today, a company-wide commitment to sustainability practices is reflected in its recycling efforts. In 2013, Club Assist recycled 1,00,000 batteries, over 758 tonnes of glass and 1,900 tonnes of polypropylene – a testament to their philosophy to ‘think global, act local’ and commitment to improving energy efficiency by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in their products and services.
Club Assist’s recycling efforts are heavily reliant on partnering with their motoring club customers. In collaboration with clubs, Club Assist markets recycling events to the public and to members to ensure that the organisation supports collecting batteries and waste from the general public and not just members. This holistic commitment has lauded Club Assist as an ABA100 Winner for Sustainability in The Australian Business Awards 2014.
