Seymour Whyte is an Australian infrastructure, engineering, and construction company contributing heavily to major infrastructure projects around the country. It started as a family business in 1987 and has since grown to handling $5 billion of complex infrastructure.
The organisation set out in 2014 to provide different mobile applications that would increase the value of internal capability, these are ‘The Diary’, ‘iForms’ and ‘Swift Mobile’. The company experienced some issues in the first few months of ‘The Diary’ but through feedback it has been improved and has since had 3800 diary entries and 3700 photos. In the past this information would have been recorded on paper across multiple books, now it is all located in the same place and accessible from anywhere thanks to cloud technology. The applications allow users to collect data and provide feedback immediately to those that can have the most impact on the outcomes. The tools have the ability to work in offline mode and then once a connection is established it will send the data, perfect for the company that regularly works in remote locations.
In 2015 Seymour Whyte Constructions has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Innovation in The Australian Business Awards.
