The Netcomm Wireless 3G WiFi M2M Router revolutionizes transport ticket machines.

By  |

The Netcomm Wireless 3G WiFi M2M Router (NTC-8000) is the only device of its kind on the international market that can work with vehicles through its 8 Ethernet 10/100 ports. The device was initially created to connect remotely to ticket machines at train stations, ferry wharves, buses and bus depots. The hardware was used as a part of the NSW Government’s $1.2 billion Opal Card project.

The technology is designed to reduce data costs, automatically switching the connection from 3G to WiFi once a vehicle enters the depot. The device has the ability to send and receive communications, acquire data and validate ticket information. Built for vehicles, the device can withstand severe vibrations and extreme temperatures. Its mounting bracket is also designed to be fitted in a variety of different sized spaces within vehicles. The technology is essential in the secure management of scanners and ticketing machines across the Opal Card system.

In 2015, Netcomm has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Best Technology Product for its NTC-8000 Wireless router.
